Yes, BUT:

+ MailDir++ sets this method in stone.
+ Many people (users, actually) like and use this "Move to Trashbin" 
feature of "Mozilla" and many other MUAs, most often this method is the 
default. -- Note: the user would need to reconfigure the MUA in order to 
be able to delete a message.
+ There were talks on this list that a WebMail frontend (SquirrelMail??) 
uses this method as default, too. You had to disable this method and lost 
some feature, if I remember correctly.
