It's part of UIDPLUS extension. I implemented it a while ago in 
1.0-tests for mbox, but maildir support would have required some 
possibly large API changes or ugly kludges, so I removed it.

I'm not sure if I'll get around to changing the API before 1.0, but a 
kludgy patch would be possible..
