[Dovecot] Plain Authentication - Outlook not working

Hi
Dropping all mail accounts and recreating with kmail provides no, or
ONE, email in each folder.
Confihuring Evolution, which I dislike, picks up all emails, like
Outlook.
Can I assume that there is a kmail/dovecot problem here? Has anyone seen
this before and fixed it?
