[Dovecot] telnet to pop3 problem

Hi

default_mail_env was commented out. when i set it to

default_mail_env = maildir:/var/spool/mail/%u

it fails to deliver maillog shows.
Mar 28 15:34:31 proteus2a pop3(obantec): lstat(/var/spool/mail/obantec/cur)
failed: Not a directory

/var/spool/mail exists what is /cur ??? all i want is
/var/spool/mail/obantec where obantec is the mail file.
