It's not my comment, it's Mark Perkel's, as the beginning of it says.

As I said, not supported atm.
You could use the mentioned patch and call deliver with the folder you
want, e.g.:

dovecot_deliver:
...
  command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver \
    -d $address_data -f $local_part_suffix
