Are these from IMAP processes?

Could you do "egrep -e "lock|mbox|mmap" dovecot.conf" and mail
the output to list?

Is your mail spool or indexes on a NFS mount?

Are you using Dovecot LDA?

Anyway, to help Timo to solve the problem please try to produce
backtraces from cores you are hopefully getting on crashes.
