[Dovecot] Auth process died too early

Hello all,
Trying an Install of Dovecot 1.0rc15. We have previously used 1.0b8
without too many troubles.
starting Dovecot 1.0rc15 yields:

and then it dies. Any thoughts on that which I am doing wrong?
