You are right: I hadn't tested that. I'm now back to square one. I've
reset hardlinking to NO. In order to avoid syslog (BTW, the messages really
don't show up there: I have mail.* logging to /var/log/maillog), I've set

	info_log_path = /tmp/dov

No further debugging (except the authentication stuff) shows up in there
either:
