[Dovecot] 1.0 migration

The version of Dovecot I am currently using keeps different read pointers
depending on if it's being accessed by POP or IMAP. I understand that
in 1.0this is unified. If I upgrade the server in place, what will the
status of
my messages be?

Will everything be marked unread?
IMAP pointers become official?
POP pointers become official?
