default_mail_env = mbox:/var/spool/mail/%u:INDEX=/var/spool/maildir/%u

Depends on the size of the mailbox and number of mails. Looks like mine
is currently 40MB for 340MB worth of mails. It's mostly the
dovecot.index.cache files which take space.
