It happened again for one user but the patch didn't log anything. Running
rc17.

The user was getting several mails between the two polls but none while the
pop3 download. The second pop3 connect again downloaded 989 mails where
most of the mails should have been deleted by the previous pop3 download.
The third connect was fine again.
