Incremental backups with Maildir are much faster and easier and more 
efficient and ...

Another thing is stability. Corrupted mailbox ruins whole mailbox (or at 
least might ruin),
 which could be thousands of messages. Corrupted message in Maildir is 
just one corrupted message.
