None of these come from Dovecot. It appears your proxy doesn't like the
POP3 client.

No, the bug was fixed another way in 1.0rcs.

Here Dovecot writes its ready message.

Then it waits..

Then the client just disconnects.
So your problem has nothing to do with Dovecot itself, and it can't be
fixed in Dovecot side.
