dovecot does not care about virtual aliases. These are a functionality 
of postfix. The question belongs to the postfix list. post there, but 
provide more infos:
- output of 'postconf -n'
- test lookups with postmap -q. for example
    postmap -q mtb at domain.net  
mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql_virtual_alias_maps.cf
