But you didn't upgrade both servers. The problem could be caused just as
well by the 2) server.

What do you use as NFS server?

Anyway since you've already set all the Dovecot's mail_nfs*=yes
settings, there's really nothing else you can do on Dovecot's side.
Dovecot really wants a perfectly working NFS setup, and it's not always
easy to do that..
