[Dovecot] Dovecot problem after last Debian sid update (solved)

Above all I am grateful I have solved the problem with help from this list.

I somewhat agree with you about the source of the problem (if any) and 
will pursue it on the Debian lists. 

I have now looked through the latest several news entries without 
finding an entry about this change.  Do you know when it happened or why 
my mail system (fetchmail - exim4 - dovecot - thunderbird) would work 
for many months until the upgrade to 1.1.11?
