[Dovecot] Dovecote does'nt start - no log ?

Problem identified. If I put in dovecot-sql.conf the following it works
user=abcd password=efgh

But I have a long password (a sentence) with spaces, how to put it correctly ? 
With quotes ' it does not work, neither with quotes ".
