I don't want a default.  I want them to get an authentication failure.  If
that failure could be informative and tell them that the domain is missing,
fine (but other aspects like "no such user" vs. "wrong password" vs. "no
such domain" I want to be left unexplained, and just be a simple
"authentication failed").
