[Dovecot] Virtual folder for selected users only? (1.2.15)

I would like to avoid this, because the 1.2.15 is running extremely stable
for a long time. (also it's the most recent version on this old
squeeze-machine if not using backports)

As far as I see, the virtual folders are fully supported since 1.2.x - am I
wrong?
What are the advantages of upgrading to 2.x? Are there security issues?
