I have a dovecot 2.0.7 installed on ubuntu 12.10 and often in dmesg I see "init: dovecot main process (7104) killed by KILL signal", I must restarted
Your Dovecot gets killed with a sure kill (aka kill -9). Somebody or some process wants your Dovecot stopped for sure.
Do you have something in your syslog and/or Dovecot log? Does the message comes up, _because_ you stop or restart Dovecot?
