One could also use procmail as one's LDA. This is the standard configuration on Red Hat distros. What does the Dovecot LDA offer over procmail? i use procmail to sort my maildir. everyting in Mail/ in my home directory is mail. but i can't seem to find a way to get it to even see mbox in Mail/. I want to be able to see mail in /var/mail/user and /home/user/Mail/.
If you tell Dovecot to look mboxes in Mail/ directory, it should find them:
default_mail_env = mbox:~/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
