Has the following: $config['default_host'] = 'ssl://mail.myserver.tld'; [address obfuscated] $config['default_port'] = 993;
as I understand should be correct.
I've been looking at various posts on the net that says the problem is a permission on dovecot, but I fail to find anything to how to fix this as it looks right to me.
Any suggestions?

- Test to connect to the IMAP server with telnet first:
telnet mail.myserver.tld 993
If you cannot connect there is a network/firewall problem.
That won't work, as port 993 is IMAPS. "openssl s_client -connect mail.myserver.tld:993" should be considered an equivalent command.

- Switch on all logging options in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10.-logging.conf and follow the logfiles while trying with thunderbird/fetchmail/roundcube.
