Unfortunately 0.99 has some problems which 1.0 don't have. I happily migrated from 0.99 to 1.0beta (and now RC), and it solved many problems (amongst others impossibility to access imap from some mobile phones). If I were you, I would really investigate migrating to 1.0, for example by building your own rpm for RHEL if you don't wish to go by the source install route.
That said, you should maybe verify file system permissions on the mailboxes which have the problem. If your clients use the very buggy outlook, you should also use the workarounds in the configuration file.

0.99x isnt supported anymore. Try the 1.x series and see how it goes.
Thaks for the answer. I use RHEL based system, which claims not to use any software in early stages and, as long as I can read at dovecot's, 1.0 is still a RC.
Maybe mounting a testing server and do dovecot's install... but it sure won't be soon...
If there's any other advise, it would be helpful...
