Hi,
the quota, reported by dovecot, will be the same before/after compression because dovecot calculate the quota based on the "original" size of the message, that is (should be) present in the name of the maildir file.
Also, index file does not need to be updated, I did this several years ago with a script I made and everything worked fine.

Is it necessary to recreate the index of that maildir after the compression is made? If so, what command should I use?
