LAYOUT=index requires mailbox_list _index=yes

I am adding a namespace with LAYOUT=index to an existing configuration, and get this notification:

LAYOUT=index requires mailbox_list_index=yes

Maybe better to just not risk it and add LAYOUT=fs to my existing mail_location=mdbox: lines?
