Every week or two I get a situation where the table of contents pane in Mozilla or Thunderbird doesn't match what message body is displayed.

Spiffy, thanks! I haven't been tracking the version changes, but upgrading the mail server is on my list for the first quarter next year, and I'll let the list know if I see the symptom again after that.
