I was never able to get the cores to work. Yes, /tmp was publically writeable and I tried changing kernel_pattern and all that, but none of it worked.
I was rather thinking that maybe the kernel doesn't want to write core files to directories that are writable by everyone.
Will there be an update of the RPM at http://atrpms.net/dist/el5/dovecot/?
I guess I'll release 1.1.12 in not too distant future and it should get updated there.
