We can't make them compatible, but qpopper writes them into a X-UIDL header which we can reuse (in Dovecot 1.0-alpha3) by setting
pop3_reuse_xuidl = yes
This means new messages will get a Dovecot UIDL, but existing messages will reuse the qpopper one (so users won't download the mail again with qpopper -> dovecot, but will, for newer messages, with dovecot -> qpopper, should you ever need to do that!)
See http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/Migration
The downloading over and over may be Outlook not liking the default pop3_uidl_format. See the dovecot-example.conf for suggestions.
Best Wishes, Chris

Hello,
does anybody know how to make XUIDLs compatible to qpopper?
I'm migrating from qpopper and one of my test-migration-accounts leaves
the mail on the server. As soon as I switch to dovecot it downloads the
mails again and again..bye! Dominik
