Actually, at one point I had planned to try this, based on Dovecot, since ACAP uses the same basic protocol as IMAP, but with different verbs. Unfortunately, work got in the way.
And then there's the whole joy of building Cyrus SASL that goes with building the IMSP/ACAP server. Yuck.
Why bother using Cyrus SASL when Dovecot has its own SASL implementation?
