I've been reading this list archives and seems to be a resolved issue (back to 2005), so dovecot should just reconnect but it does not so. I'm using dovecot 1.1.3 with vpopmail 5.4.25 with this configuration: .. passdb: driver: vpopmail userdb: driver: vpopmail

You're using vpopmail, not Dovecot's SQL. Dovecot can't do anything
about vpopmail's reconnection problems.
