gdb /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap /home/.../core bt
would show where this happened.
there is no core file created, the only differene that OE stop and such error logs:
dovecot: May 28 14:00:11 Error: child 1086 (imap) returned error 80 (Can't open log file)
