It's an MBox file that I'm trying to rename, not a directory. | file Vendors/|| ||Vendors/: setgid directory|| || file Vendors/Test|| ||Vendors/Test: empty|| | (Perhaps you missed that I said I created it "messages only", and the config I originally posted showed the file storage is mbox...)
So perhaps dovecot is confused - expecting an mbox file to have directory permissions, when the directory it's in is setgid? At least that's how it has seemed to me all along...
