      Thanks! I am now doing it like this
cat test.msg | /usr/libexec/dovecot/lmtp
[@~]# cat test.msg
MAIL FROM:<root>
RCPT TO:<test>
DATA
Subject: AAA subject 977
This is the message 977 body
