I used to use dspam, and agree it is pretty cool - very powerful if you need a very granular solution. But it is also very complex to install and configure - at least as compared to ASSP. It is also VERY I/O intensive, where ASSP is extraordinarily lightweight (except when rebuilding the spamdb).
You can probably trivially rewrite my plugin for that :)
