What happens, if you run the command from the shell as user vmail? E.g.:
sudo -u \#1009 /usr/local/bin/dspam --source=error --class=spam \
- --signature=4be87a9f953248352114216 --client --user vmail
Hmm, I don't know if you can also assign the gid...
