Could you send me the logs of what happens here, both the strace log
and the IMAP traffic:

telnet localhost imap2 1 login username password

Now start: strace -o log -p pidof imap

And continue with IMAP commands:

2 select inbox 3 fetch 1:* (envelope uid rfc822.size)
