[Dovecot] How incoming emails are routed to public shared mailboxes ?

Hello

I'm setting up few public shared maiboxes ( maildir format ) but I'm wondering how are they routed into the right ?

Does authorized users have to place them inside manually ?

Could it be automated ?

I'm stuck
