Hi all,
perhaps a silly question, perhaps an unusual one, I don't know. I'm trying to suss out how to set up Dovecot in such a way as to have two separate IMAP services running on the same system.
To explain. We have an "internally-facing" IMAP and an "externally-facing" one. It's policy that anyone connecting to IMAP from outside uses a stronger authentication method than the default internal one.
The current system uses the standard imap/imaps ports for internal auth, but a different port-pair for external access.
(actually it's a bit more complex than that, but that's all I really need to go into for this exercise!)
So, for example, I'd like to kick off a test rig that uses IMAP on port 143 using a standard password (file or NIS) auth and to set up another on port, say 144 using PAM.
Can this be done within one single dovecot.conf, or should I be running two separate daemons?
Thanks,
Two daemons with separate config files that ensure there are no conflicts in pid, base_dir, ports and login_dir. Me thinks.
