Try rm /var/spool/virtual/mydomain.name/technical/mdbox/mailboxes/INBOX/dbox-Mails/dovecot.index.cache

I have done that. Sent a test mail. Outlook (using IMAP) does not sync the mailbox. It does not even receive the test mail.
