Right. This is kind of a design problem which isn't that easy to fix (until v2.0). Do you really need more than count=1? I don't think there's any benefit in having count (much) larger than the number of CPUs in the system, and a count=1 can handle thousands of connections/sec on my system.
My system isn't that busy but I'm getting really sluggish response from Dovecot. Increasing the count seems to make a significant difference. I can't explain why, but I'm trying to track down why I'm seeing a very sluggish response time when I know I have plenty of computing horsepower and it should be nearly instant.
