Did you check what the dict socket's permissions were at that time? What are they supposed to be now?
I did not check at the time, but they should both be 1000.
I tried and could reproduce this. The socket's permissions stayed as intended across reload.
I have ran dovecot reload since on the same system, and have not had
the same issue.
