Greetings again all,
<snip> I am a Postfix/Courier-IMAP user and am interested in Dovecot. I have install Dovecot via FBSD ports. I have got to the part where I can telnet in to the server. </snip>
I guess I ought to backup a little, now that I have the above resolved.
I am wanting/wondering about using Dovecot with Postfix. I assume some of you have done this. Have you any thoughts, comments, how-to

I do this. It works fine. And, I believe, Timo also does this, which would explain why he wrote the patch to make Postfix do SMTP AUTH against the Dovecot auth daemon :)
I just told Postfix to deliver mail to Maildirs in each user's home, and told Dovecot where to look. Nothing could be simpler. :)

Ok, I shall give it a go. I have my current mailserver running. I want to do this on another machine so I dont bork anything or have time down. Once I get things going smoothly, I will switch over.

( I know it's a little off topic, but : )
Is it necessary to have procmail installed for delivering mail in Maildir format, or can Postfix achieve that alone, without using a MDA ?
Thanks in advance,
Gauthier
