[Dovecot] Dovecot 1.0.beta9, emails disappearing?
Hi, I've been using Dovecot successfully for a while and I've recently encountered an issue :
I got to work today and half the emails, were deleted... and after careful investigation :
- On Monday it seems, the emails magically vanished .. (what I've been told)
- My backup from Tuesday morning at 3am, indicates that all the files (mailbox) are intact but the subscription file is missing half the entries.
- At noon, on Tuesday, half the subscriptions are still missing and half the files now also missing.
Any ideas, known issues, suggestions?

the server in question is usually just idling away... and nothing abnormal in my logs

I have received reports from my users of this happening as well. In
each case we have not been able to determine the source of the issue.
We are currently running 1.0 RC2

Might I suggest that both of you upgrade to 1.0rc7?
Also, are the people who are having problems switching between
multiple mail clients?

Nope, only 1 user was using dovecot for the last 3 days -> outlook

Hi every body,
I am upgrading form 0.9 to 1.0.rc7
In the old version I had the following entry's:
auth_userdb = passwd-file /mailstore/users auth_passdb = passwd-file /mailstore/passwd auth=default
and can't get working I ekeep anding up with the following error :
-ERR Authentication failed.

Marc, you might want to check if the files still exist in their 'mailbox' .. if that's your case, (I had backups..)
.. I successfully brought back those emails by recreating the subscription file. (Which saved me a trip on a guillotine)

I'm using mbox format. And - it was only one guy and I didn't think it was on my end. But - I saw this thread and said .... hmmmmmm
