You are in the root group. This is generally a bad idea, but you might get away with setting first_valid_gid=0 in your config file (as the error message suggests). See e.g. http://wiki.dovecot.org/MainConfig for more information.

I'd suggest you set up a "normal" user in a "normal" group for reception of mail.
