[Dovecot] Thunderbird IMAP + TLS error
Hi,
i'm having a weird message connecting to an account using IMAP + TLS from thunderbird (evolution works great, so does SSL in thunderbird, haven't tested anywhere else yet):
"You cannot login to <domain> because the server has disabled login. You may need to connect via SSL or TLS. Please check..."
in auth.log all i have is: "imap-login: Aborted login: rip=<my ip>, lip=<server ip>
Any thoughts?

dont use port 143 and starttls with thunderbird. it is broken thunderbird 3 alpha fixes this bug.
use imaps via 993.

Is there a virus scanner on your PC which is scanning port 143 traffic?
At least F-Secure is breaking TLS secured IMAP connections but in that case connection will just hang, no error messages whatsoever.

Ok, i just tested one account again in a windows box with thunderbird 1.5 beta1 and it works perfectly.
So either the problem is my version of thunderbird at home (from ubuntu testing), or some weird problem i can't think of right now.
I will try to get more info and reply later.
Thanks

Just to follow up on this
Thunderbird 1.5 beta 1 did work correctly with TLS, thunderbird 1.5 final (20051201) does not.
