In case of 1.0.10, just take the prepared ready-to-install .deb from backports.
Does this backport package has quota available?
Mh, sorry, I've no idea.
Maybe someone on the mailing list can give a definitive answer.
Greetings,
Gunter

Well, usually 1.0.x does NOT have the new quota stuff. But why not simply look at the package :)
http://packages.debian.org/etch-backports/dovecot-imapd
look at the diff.gz:

Yes, it's in there. Respect to the backporter, I say!

Hi yes it is there quota support. I tried it, it works. Very good. But when I have used 100% of the space i cannot delete any mail. Is it possible to create a kind of warning or overpass quota for delete operations? Thanks

Hy. Thanks to all your advices. I found that using this debian backport package quota works , but if I have exeded my quota & I want to delete mails I cannot do it so I was told to use the new quota version wich demands a patch so I found myself compilling again & with the dnotify inotify problem.
AS for me is imposible to compile dovecot (sys/inotify.h is missing in Debian Etch)with inotify I wonder wich would be the problem if I compile dovecot with dnotify. Does it would be too slow?
Thanks

I have _not_ tested the issue, yet, but I'm also looking in this topic:
Google found this: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=336556
"Making CMake dance for me Hi, I'm working on ap project that users inotify.h, a module that is included in recent versions of glibc, but for example not in Debian Etch.
The thing is, in any modern distro I'd have to include sys/inotify.h, while in etch I have to include inotifytools/inotify.h. I've managed to do it in CMake with CHECK_INCLUDE_FILES and a config.h, but I found a cleaner solution that should work in theory but actually doesn't, for me:"
The package inotify-tools does include the inotifytools/* files and the
./configure test script does pass, if compiled with #include

and "new" is moved into ~name/Maildir/cur immediately. So, I guess, it means inotify is working.
=========
Well, could Dovecot adapt to Debian Etch, e.g. to specify an alternate inotify.h location with ./configure, maybe search the default location ?
Bye.

Don't use dnotify...
Best to figure out how to get inotify working on Debian etch.... Maybe this helps:
