I installed Dovecot along with Postfix on a FreeBSD server using the port. When I try to start dovecot I get the following error:

Fatal: Can't resolve address : hostname nor servname provided, or not known

I have the hostname define on the server and can ping it by FQDN and by just hostname with out problems.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you still have the problem, it was most likely caused by having an empty "listen" or "ssl_listen" field in dovecot.conf. Either remove them or set them to "*". This will be fixed in next version.
