[Dovecot] lock file strangeness
We are running dovecot-1.2.10 on a Solaris 10 x86 host.
Starting on July 24 I started seeing the following type lock files I the /var/mail directory.
-rw-rw-rw- 1 agab mail 0 Jul 24 10:08 agabriel.lock.1343138908.28535.hardy.purdue.edu
-rw-rw-rw- 1 agab mail 0 Jul 24 10:08 agabriel.lock.1343138907.28535.hardy.purdue.edu
-rw-rw-rw- 1 agab mail 0 Jul 24 10:08 agabriel.lock.1343138906.28535.hardy.purdue.edu
-rw-rw-rw- 1 agab mail 0 Jul 24 10:08 agabriel.lock.1343138905.28535.hardy.purdue.edu
They are being created by only three of our users. What is common with the three users is that they are using alpine mail client.
Again these just started on July 24.
We have over 300 user and a lot of them use alpine but only three users seem to generate these lock files.
Can some one tell me what and why these are being created and why they are not getting destroyed?
Thanks
Robert

Dovecot doesn't create lock files named like these.
