To force dovecot startup, then look for the lock file under /var/lock/subsys/ and delete it. then start doevcot again (using RH startup script I mean).

Looking into the mail logs, I find:

dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down dovecot: child 4165 (auth) returned error 127

Does anybody know how I can fix this?

For that, I guess you need to provide more infos to the list.
