I have a question regarding the Dovecot Server compatibility with Azure Cloud, which our application is migrating to.We are currently usingDovecot Mail Server v2.3.4. I need to verify that the software is compatible with that type of environment or what we would need to continue using the software once we migrate.
Thank you,

Hi Kristie,
community edition of dovecot mail server is not supported as per such, so feel free to run it anywhere you get it running. However, dovecot pro has object storage, which makes it more suitable for running in cloud environment.

Given the reputation of the Azure IP space, be hesitant to start operating an email server there, UNLESS you can get MS to give you SWIP or 'rwhois' for your IP space.
Just an FYI..
High levels' of AUTH attacks originating from that space as well. To the point we even have a reputation list just for that IP space, in case you want to block AUTH attacks from it.
There was a quote from an MS engineer who even placed doubt on accepting an email from the Azure space.. of course, the world evolves, but without a 'rwhois' or SWIP that shows transparency, I would not recommend it..

As long as it's only dovecot (IMAP) and not anything doing SMTP, there should be no reputation issue...
